As the State of Minnesota Earned Sick & Safe Time (ESST) requirements go into effect on January 1, the accrual code and earnings codes related to Safe & Sick have been set up in Paycor. Review the important information below:
Safe & Sick Accrual Code
- The accrual is named Safe&Sick for most locations. For any location that already had a code titled Safe&Sick, the new accrual was named MN Safe&Sick.
- The accrual is set to treat the following list of earnings codes as hours worked: Reg (Regular), OT(Overtime), Stipend 1 to Stipend 9, Double and Retro Pay.
- The accrual code must be added to each employee profile that it applies to before the first check date that it should accrue on, and after the last payroll where it should not accrue.
- The accruals must be manually added to each employee’s Accrual Setup page that requires this new accrual. Note: not all employees will need this accrual set up as they already receive leave benefits that meet or exceed the requirements of Minnesota’s ESST law. It is up to each location to apply this new leave appropriately.
Safe & Sick Earnings Code
- The new earnings code is titled Safe&Sick
- If you are adding the accrual code to an employee’s profile, you must also review the earnings set up for the employee.
- Add the earnings code Safe & Sick to their profile if needed.
- This code must be used when paying leave benefits associated with ESST.
