Action Needed: Personal Safety Lessons Attendance
As faith formation and school programs resume for the 2025-26 program year, please:
- Review PSL attendance & present any required lessons that have not yet been completed.
- Remember to keep attendance records for PSLs. These attendance records need to be permanently retained (school, parish).
Helpful resources and approved programs are available to meet the requirement 90% of all children in faith formation programs or who attend Catholic school receive personal safety lessons:
FYI: “Keeping the Promise Alive” Training Module Updated
Effective January 6, 2026, the latest version of “Keeping the Promise Alive” will be automatically assigned as part of the adult safety lessons in the VIRTUS training cycle.
This updated module provides ongoing awareness for the prevention of child sexual abuse, with emphasis on:
- Recognizing warning signs of risky behaviors
- Communicating concerns about another adult’s behavior
- Identifying a healthy suspicion
- Responding appropriately as caring adults
SECs wishing to review this module should contact their Program Liaison to have KPA4.0 added to their account.
Action Needed: Update Custom Master Report Criteria
‘Compliance Report’ is Accurate – The VIRTUS Compliance Report now includes “Keeping the Promise Alive 4.0” versions in the criteria for identifying users with expiring or non-compliant training.
Update Personalized Reports – If your parish or school uses personalized or pre-saved master reports found under the Compliance section of VIRTUS, update any saved reports to include “Keeping the Promise Alive 4.0” versions.
‘SAR Parameters’ Report Added – OPCY published the ‘SAR Parameters’ report to the master report dropdown for parish and school SECs. This report:
- Find this report under the Reports section -> Compliance Reports -> Master Reports -> Saved Reports.
- Includes “Keeping the Promise Alive 4.0” in its reporting criteria

Upcoming: 2025-26 Spring Audit Report (SAR) Timeline
The Spring Audit Report for the 2025-2026 program year includes several updates, one of these is a revised timeline and flow. Additional details regarding further adjustments will be shared in the coming weeks. Please start planning now with the schedule below:
- May 28 – SAR Submission Portal opens for data input & uploads
- June 5 – SAR Submission Portal closes for data entry (No signatures are needed at this point)
- June 18 – Program Liaisons issue SAR forms with evaluation scores to designated SAR contacts for stakeholder signature
- June 28 – Signed Spring Audit Report forms uploaded to the SAR submission portal
This process ensures data accuracy prior to collecting leadership acceptance signatures and allows OPCY to prepare Archdiocesan-wide data for submission to the USCCB Secretariat of Child and Youth Protection in accordance with Article 9 of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
