Ensuring secure access to ParishSOFT systems

As part of the ongoing commitment to maintaining the security and accuracy of user access within ParishSOFT systems, each parish’s Business Administrator is asked to review their staff and volunteer listings for ParishSOFT Accounting and ParishSOFT Family Suite. This review is especially important as ParishSOFT will soon implement a new Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) feature for ParishSOFT Accounting. This update will eliminate the use of user names, requiring users to use their email address along with a secondary authentication method to access the system.

When Business Administrators receive a message from the Office of Financial Standards and Parish Accounting containing the current user listing for review, take the following actions:

  1. Review the list of users associated with your parish.
  2. Inactivate any staff or volunteers who no longer work for your parish.
  3. Ensure each user verifies the email address associated with their login to confirm it is unique, even if they work for multiple parishes. Shared email addresses will not be supported under the new MFA system.
  4. Verify the accuracy of Accounting Integration permissions. If a user does not need access to enter/close batches or set up new funds in Offering, please remove the checkmark for Accounting Integration under the user’s Staff window.

Prompt attention to these actions is vital in ensuring the integrity and security of your ParishSOFT systems. Use the resources below from ParishSOFT to guide you through this process:
