Presented by Angie Neumann, MA, MTS, LMFT, STLย
Thursday, October 9, 12:00-3:30 p.m.ย
Location: St. Peterโs, Mendotaย
This afternoon will explore the physical and emotional impact of trauma, including vicarious trauma (which can occur when helping others through their trauma). It will emphasize the necessity of self-care, recognizing oneself as worthy of attention rather than merely a tool for others. Similar to airplane emergencies, where it is important to put on one’s own oxygen mask first, in difficult events, it is crucial to first attend to oneself before helping others.
Consequently, this workshop will provide:
- A foundational understanding of the anatomy of trauma, its symptoms, triggers, and recovery methods.
- Correction of the belief that feeling emotions hinders oneโs ability to help others and demonstrate that the opposite is true.
- Teaching on how to tune into, rather than shut down, one’s own emotional and physical experience.
