Spring Clergy Study Day 2026

April 14, 2026

Tuesday, April 14, 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Location: St. Peterโ€™s, Mendota

Presented by Father Donald Haggerty

The prayer of priest and deacon has liturgical, communal, and private dimensions. The day’s talks will focus on personal prayer and the interior life of prayer. All clergy from the days of their seminary training have lived a life of private prayer to some degree. There are, however, many variations of commitmentย and dedication to this important element in a priest or deacon’s life. Most of us, perhaps, live too active a life and neglect to some extent theย importance of time spent alone withย theย Lord. The effort of the day will be to draw us to a deeper appreciation for this aspect of clerical life. The desire of the Lord for our greater unionย with him in prayer is an indisputable truth and indispensable for priestly and diaconal fruitfulness. The talks will seek to enhance our awareness of this truth and to provide insights for embracing more deeplyย the attraction for silent prayer alone with the Lord.
Titles of conferences:
  • Conference I: ‘Second Conversion’ in the Life of Prayer
  • Conference II: Healthy Spiritual Jolts to Aid the Life of Prayer
  • Conference III: Interior Depth in the Life of Prayer
