At this Parish Staff Formation Day, Archbishop Hebda shares his vision for your instrumental role in the important work of encouraging parents as primary educators. He will reveal the vision and theology behind his pending pastoral letter to parents, “Only One Thing Is Necessary,” and connect how the letter’s implementation will advance what comes next out of Synod 2025. All attendants will receive an advance copy of the pastoral letter, along with practical implementation and small group guides to be utilized beginning in ministry year 2026-2027.
Keynote speaker: Archbishop Bernard Hebda “Only One Thing Is Necessary”
In his keynote presentation, Archbishop Hebda shares how the work of the Blue Ribbon Commission proposals coming out of You Will Be My Witnesses identified the need for a “Sea Change” in our culture today. After a brief overview of the vision & theology found in his letter, Archbishop identifies how this cultural shift is integrated with what’s come before (Years 1-3a) and what comes next (Synod 2025 implementation) – everything is a part of the same vision. He concludes with the unpacking of the implementation section of his letter, released early for the benefit of pastors and staff as they prepare for the 2026-2027 ministry year.
