This year’s diaconal assembly will be a wonderful opportunity for fraternity, prayer and renewal together with Archbishop Hebda. Deacon James Keating, Professor of Spiritual Theology at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, will offer reflections on the spiritual life and prayer in diaconal life and its influence on our ministry.
Deacon Keating reflected on this theme for the assembly as he noted: “Without a commitment to deep silence and contemplative prayer, a deacon is tempted to minister out of his own natural gifts and strengths. Only in the dependency and weakness of leaning upon Christ in prayer can His own ministry become ours.”
We will also take time for prayer and fellowship in a relaxed and beautiful setting. You are welcome to come down to Winona early Friday to enjoy some additional rest and refreshment, if desired.
The assembly cost is $250 per deacon and should be drawn from your parish or institution’s ongoing formation budget. This assembly is for deacons. There will be a deacon and wives day with Archbishop Hebda in 2027. If you are retired or are not assigned to a parish or institution, a scholarship will be provided to cover your costs.
