Deacon Discernment Day

April 25, 2026

Time: 8:15 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Location: The Saint Paul Seminary

Are you drawn to a life of service? Have you ever considered a vocation as a permanent deacon? Do others ask you about it? If so, The Saint Paul Seminary Institute for Diaconate Formation invites you to attend a Deacon Discernment Day on Saturday, April 25. Discerners and their wives (if applicable) will learn about the vocation of the permanent deacon, the application and formation process. Some of the questions answered include:

  • What is a deacon?
  • Who can become a deacon?
  • How are Holy Orders integrated with marriage and family?
  • How does one discern and respond to the Lordโ€™s call to Holy Orders?
  • What prerequisites are needed?

The day includes Mass, prayer, reflections, lunch, Q&A, and more. It is intended for single or married men, and their wives (if applicable), between the ages of 25 and 59. He must be a U.S. citizen or a resident alien with a green card and a permanent resident in the Archdiocese of St Paul and Minneapolis.
