Experience the Beauty and Depth of the Sacred Liturgy
“Ars celebrandi” means “the art of celebrating.” All liturgical ministers are invited to join this day of prayer, learning, and renewal featuring Mass with Bishop Michael Izen and a keynote address, Ars Celebrandi: On Becoming the Body of Christ.
Through gestures, symbols, music, silence, incense, water, oil, bread, and wine, the liturgy engages our senses and draws us into an encounter with the living God. In this inspiring keynote, Dr. Johan van Parys will explore how the Church’s sacramental life opens our minds, hearts, and souls to the real presence of Christ in our midst.
You are welcome to attend all or part of the morning, but please RSVP so we know how much lunch to prepare.
Participants will also choose from three enriching breakout sessions:
- Wait, am I allowed to pray this? (Deacon Joe Michalak) Discover the beauty of the Liturgy of the Hours and learn why the Church calls all the faithful to this ancient and timeless form of prayer.
- Art in the Church: Visual Theology (Dr. Carol Frenning) Explore how sacred art tells the story of our faith, expresses theology and shapes worship spaces that reflect the mysteries we celebrate.
- Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Wasting Time at the Source and Summit (Rev. Dr. Tom Margevičius) Learn how Eucharistic Adoration flows from and leads back to the Mass, and gain a deeper understanding of this cherished devotional practice.
